Precision Measurement of Alternating Current

The paper describes the standards used at the National Measurement Institute, Australia (NMIA) for the measurement of alternating current and current ac-dc transfer difference from 100 μA to 20 A, at frequencies from 10 Hz to 1 MHz. The standards are based on precision current shunts and/or thermal converters. Design, characterisation and use of current shunts and current shuntthermal converter combinations in precision measurements are discussed.
