Visual Aids and PowerPoint-Beyond Bullet Points
Visual Aids and PowerPoint-Beyond Bullet Points
Paul R. Selzer, Abbott Laboratories
Visual aids are an important part of many presentations. Many speakers utilizing Powerpoint have extensively used bullet points, charts and graphs to shape their presentation into a focused cohesive vehicle for communication. One vital item is missing in this style of communication-we have lost the balance that we need to engage the audience in our presentation. Examples from Aristotle in the narrative form of telling a story are used in the presentation in the form of appeals to reason or emotion-engaging the audience. A personal story can be a powerful technique to support a point.
