This two day workshop is designed to introduce fundamental metrology principles to new laboratory technicians involved in calibration activities. The workshop shall include three major learning components:
- 20 hours of Workplace Training Prerequisite e-learning:
- terminology, concepts, graphics, formulas, real world examples, and practice questions from subject matter experts throughout the calibration industry.
- 2 days of classroom reinforcement concentrating on:
SI Units, math, ISO Guide 99 metrology definitions, measurement traceability and measurement uncertainty. DC and low frequency electrical, dimensional, mechanical and other parameters as deemed necessary. Workshop is facilitated by Dilip Shah.
- Dilip Shah (American Society for Quality senior member) has over 30 years of industry experience in metrology, electronics, instrumentation and computer applications of statistics in the metrology and quality assurance areas. Dilip is the co-author of The Metrology Handbook published by the ASQ Quality Press. Dilip participated in the development of the ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) exam. Dilip also is a member of IEEE and NCSL International.
- Hands on exercises to provide competence on DC-low frequency and dimensional measurement instruments.
The workshop attendees shall be provided a Certificate of Competency and CEU's.
Target audience are new hired technicians plus any experienced technicians requiring refresher or cross training in aerospace, energy, biomedical/pharmaceutical, automotive, military or private calibration laboratory environment.

Attendees shall be e-mailed a registration password to participate in e-learning.
Register before February 1, 2009 so that we can have an accurate count for planning purposes. NCSL International reserves the right to cancel the workshop if the minimum number of registration requirements is not met. We also reserve the right to limit the workshop to a maximum number of attendees. In the case of cancellation, NCSL International shall reimburse the registration fees. NCSL International is not liable for airline, lodging or any other associated incidental costs. Cancellations by attendees after February 5, 2009 incur a $75 cancellation penalty. Substitutions are allowed at any time but not after the workshop has begun.
