Speakers:

Topic: Vision Systems – CNC vs Manual, Sensor Types, Benefits, Lighting, Field of View, Limitations
Speaker:
Jeremy Adcox, Sales Representative, Mitutoyo America Corporation

Abstract:
Non-contact measurement is becoming a preferred method of dimensional measurement, when possible.  This presentation will introduce the audience to the difference types of Manual and CNC Vision Systems, as well as the different sensors available, their ideal uses, limitations, and examples.  Additionally, we will discuss the how lighting, field of view, filtering, and feature detection boundaries affects accuracy and repeatability.

Topic: Will your business and customer relationships recover from an unplanned event?
Speaker:
Tim VonderHaar, Precision Environments, Inc.

Abstract:
What would you do if your laboratory suffered a catastrophic loss, due to a natural disaster or other unforeseen circumstance.  What would you do in the event of a facility shutdown or a system failure?  We all spend so much time and energy dealing with the day to day operations that we fail to plan for the unexpected.  This learning lab will provide an overview of technical document LM-15, “Lab Recovery Planning; Disasters and Planned Events.”  Attendees will then hear real life examples, followed by an
open forum Q&A session.

Topic: What You May Not Know About Your HP/Agilent/Keysight 3458A
Speaker:
Adam Croan, Metrologist -Metrology & Calibration Laboratory, Marshall Space Flight Center

Abstract:
Almost every laboratory has a HP/Agilent/Keysight 3458A 8.5 Digit Multimeter, but few employ the instrument to reach its full measurement capability. In this presentation we will discuss environmental concerns, TCAL and ACAL, application of temperature coefficients, and lessons learned from using, supporting, and calibrating these meters. To completely realize the published specifications of this multimeter one must be mindful of the details and specifics relating to its’ use.

Topic: Take a SWIPE at Precision Length Measurement
Speaker:
George Schuetz, Director Of Precision Gages

Abstract:
This will be a practical presentation covering the individual parts of the measuring process, the importance of each and how each may contribute to the end result. From this we will come up with an easy way of remembering the measurement process parts for future use. Finally we will take a closer of how millionth measurements make each one of these parts of the process more critical when performing precision length measurements.
