Title: Transformer Calibration at NRC Using Thompson’s Method

Abstract: At the 2005 NCSLI an NRC developed triaxial calibration bridge, developed for in-phase and quadrature AC voltage ratio measurements, was discussed. The primary purpose of this bridge was to calibrate ac voltage ratio transformers and inductive voltage dividers in the audio range but it suffered from some residual problems of repeatability and control of the currents in the shields. In this paper we report on a coaxial measurement system using a modification of Thompson’s method which properly controls the shield currents and is easily adapted to many types of connectors. The design, measurement technique and comparison results of both measurement systems are presented.
