Abstract: This paper discusses Sypris Test & Measurement’s (ST&M) training programs to develop new metrology technicians and to ensure continuous development of experienced employees to meet the company’s future growth. With today’s dwindling supply of trained metrology technicians, it has become imperative to train new technicians from entry level. This paper presents two programs ST&M has developed to accomplish this task. The programs are based on entry level and technical graduate level trainees. The paper starts by identifying key talent, developing the curriculum, and establishing educational partnerships to accomplish this specialized training. This paper will explore an internal solution to fill the training gap in the field of Metrology.
