The 23rd General Conference on Weights and Measure was held in Paris in November of 2007. During that event 12 resolutions were approved which are likely to have far reaching consequences in the future of the BIPM and of international metrology at the highest level. In this talk we shall review those resolutions and discuss their expected influence on the science of metrology during the next 4-years. The current state of the CIPM MRA and the BIPM's collaboration with the accreditation community will be outlined in brief as it will be more extensively discussed in other sessions. In addition, we shall discuss the process of program prioritization currently being conducted at the BIPM aimed at improving the value of the BIPM’s work for its members.
