Title: The Captive Calibration Lab Gone Commercial – The Pros and Cons
Topic Group: Accreditation in Dimensional Metrology Panel II
E-mail: mtromble@dtl-inc.com
Co-Authors:
Abstract: This presentation is a look at the hurdles encountered when a captive lab also provides commercial calibration services. Some companies believe that if they perform internal calibrations for their own facility, they would easily be able to offer these same services to other companies as a commercial lab – it may not be that easy!

Included in this discussion are the aspects of the accreditation process, training, personnel, juggling of workload, and financial benefits, all the things to be considered when contemplating going from a captive lab to a commercial lab.

This is part of the Accreditation in Dimensional Metrology panel discussion)
