The intended audiences are ISO 17025 Calibration Laboratories, ISO 9001 Meter Manufacturers that supply reference measurement standards, and organizations considering adopting ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006. Participants will gain insights in recognizing the benefits of entering into joint ventures as well as the economic competitive advantages of growing collaborations. This paper will share the benefits that Consumers Energy gained by assisting Radian Research with implementing ANSI/NCSL Z540-2-1997 (R2002) "U.S. Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty of Measurement." It also will share the benefits Radian Research gained by assisting Consumers Energy's A2LA "accredited" calibration Laboratory with adding the AC kWh energy measurement to their scope of accreditation. Radian Research is a world leading manufacturer of primary and transfer energy standards and Consumers Energy is a major energy utility company in the state of Michigan. To this end, this paper will share what was learned in this joint venture to facilitate trade as well as additional AMI collaborations being considered between these two parties.
