Data Integrity in Pharmaceutical Environmental Monitoring - Beyond Bytes and Signatures, Vaisala, Webinar
In this webinar you will learn how to maintain data integrity in environmental monitoring applications. Participants will get an up-to-date overview of the current regulatory expectations for practices that ensure data integrity.
All systems that record information for GxP-regulated applications — be they manual, automatic or hybrid — have inherent data integrity risks. Data integrity is not a novel regulatory requirement, but compliance failures and enforcement actions are becoming more common as regulatory scrutiny increases. With globalization and increasing use of digital information with computerized systems, several new regulatory guidance documents have recently been published to clarify how data should be recorded, processed, stored and retrieved.
However, good data integrity is about more than compliance with regulations. In life science applications, data often represents a significant investment in research, development, samples or donated tissue. In life science, data can also represent the hope of patients for a novel therapy or drug. As in all other aspects of regulated industry applications, these processes require trustworthy systems to ensure patient safety.
Join in this webinar and learn how to maintain data integrity in environmental monitoring applications. Along with best practices for managing environmental data, participants will get an up-to-date overview of the current regulatory expectations for practices that ensure data integrity. Plus, we enjoy a lively Q&A session at the end of the webinar.

Instrumented Laser Joining Workshop, Boulder, Colorado
Highly accurate thermodynamic measurements and time-dependent knowledge of the laser-matter interaction of laser-based welding is required for laser weld modelling to be effective. NIST has undertaken the challenge of what we call the instrumented laser weld and dissemination of measurement results to support modelling and prediction. This endeavor requires metrology by means of strictly controlled boundary conditions, accurate instrumentation on well-characterized materials, and thorough post-process evaluation (mechanical testing, imaging, and more).
Workshop goals: We welcome industry, academic, and government experts to challenge and advise us as we undertake comprehensive metrology and dissemination to support laser joining. For maximum impact on modelling and prediction, NIST has committed the resources for weld characterization and seeks assistance in prioritizing relevant materials and measurement parameters. This work targets two areas: high-value welds where trial-and-error weld development is not practical and laser additive processes (e.g., powder bed/3D printing).
Topics: Measurements & Instrumentation, Modeling, Applications, NIST tours

METROARCHAEO 2017 , Leece, Italy
The word metrology has a long tradition, deriving from the Greek word for measure. The knowledge about anything is complete only when it can be expressed in numbers and something is known about it. Measurements play a fundamental role in every field of investigation and present day scientific and technological progress has resulted from progress in the field of measurements. Metrology, the science of measurements, includes all aspects both theoretical and practical with reference to measurements, whatever their uncertainty, and in whatever fields of science or technology they occur. Consequently the field of valorisation, characterisation and preservation of Cultural Heritage too is deeply related to the metrological issues for the collection, interpretation and validation of data collected with the different analytical, physical-chemical, mechanical techniques, digital technologies, new ICT tools, etc…

METROARCHAEO2017 wants to gather together Heritage scientists in universities, research institutions, museums, galleries, libraries, archives, small and medium enterprises. The conference program is conceived to foster exchanges of ideas and information, make connections and collaborations, update innovation on “measurements” suitable for Cultural Heritage among material scientists, chemists, physicists, engineers, archaeologists, conservators, restorers, etc..
