Committee Charter
Ensure that adequate resources are available to support metrology education, training, and metrology outreach through solicitation and oversight of grants and charitable contributions in the NCSLI Education Development Fund (EDF), the management of scholarships, and the oversight of awarded grants and contracts that are associated with strategically selected metrology education, training and outreach projects.
Primary Projects (pending resource allocation) include:

  • Enhance NCSLI Scholarship Resources, investigate new/international scholarship opportunities;
  • Administer the NCSLI Education & Training award;
  • Create/complete Multimedia DVD in partnership with ASQ-MQD and MSC;
  • Training Aids Library resources; Educational Measurement Kits;
  • Virtual Physical Laboratory license for outreach resources; and
  • Needs Assessment Study.
2013 - 2014 Goals
  1. Manage NCSLI Scholarship program and the Education and Training Award;
  2. Identify new committee members who have expertise and passion in financial resources to take on additional activities. Apply for at least three grants during 2013 and an additional two grants during 2014 to support learning and development efforts;
  3. Manage the Education Development Fund: establish long-term growth goals, implement and promote events/opportunities; have a branded collection of resources for marketing/soliciting and fund raising through annual investment campaign;
  4. Develop and implement the financial infrastructure needed to manage solicitations, income, grants, and contracts through the EDF, and institute a process to identify and select projects that have the greatest opportunity for impact. Write and disseminate requests for project proposals and grants. Evaluate project proposals. Develop appropriate Administrative Procedures to document financial procedures for long term success.
  5. Manage and solicit Individual and Corporate Sponsorship opportunities:
    • Individual and Corporate levels of sponsorship (undesignated to EDF);
    • Named Corporate Scholarships ($10,000 for 3-year delivery);
    • “Find a Cool Career in Metrology” update project (Complete);
    • “Find a Cool Career in Metrology” Flash to HTML Conversion ($40,000);
    • Update the “Engineering Go For It” sponsorship ($12,000); and
    • Sponsor the “Virtual Physical Laboratory” and dissemination ($70,000).
