2013 - 2014 Goals
  1. Contact the NIST mass group to obtain 1) an update on the status of the kilogram redefinition for the committee and 2) an update on the 1 kg uncertainty provided by them. Prepare a short (approximately 1 page) report for electronic distribution discussing the potential impacts to mass calibration laboratories.
  2. Maintain liaison with NIST Weights and Measures Division. NIST Weights and Measures Division (WMD) reports on Legal Metrology developments in the U.S. marketplace. WMD will continue to share the status of updated documentary standards and publications, the introduction of new technology (e.g., hydrogen fuel), and specific issues that impact Legal Metrology (e.g., metric packaging and labeling).
  3. Expand awareness of legal metrology issues into forensics laboratories. Prepare a summary of potential educational opportunities that the Legal Metrology Committee could initiate along with potential avenues for distribution into the forensics community.
