Workforce Survey Results

In order to better understand the NCSLI membership and further the efforts of the 163 Workplace and Professional Development Committee, we condcuted a Workforce Survey. This information will be useful in preparation of training materials for RP-20, Workforce Planning. Results to be posted soon. 

Workplace Development and Individual Professional Development

NCSLI has a number of ongoing efforts related to workplace and individual professional development.  We provide useful resources such as the Benchmarking Survey that demonstrates salary statistics and numbers of technicians and metrologists in the workforce.  We also have Recommended Practices (available in the NCSLI Store or Member Publications) that cover employee qualifications and documenting education and training. that are helpful in the workplace. Works in progress include a Recommended Practice on Laboratory Workforce Planning (Succession) and a new Human Resources Handbook.

Standardized Job Descriptions

NCSLI Committee 163 worked with the ASQ MQD on a national job description analysis project and has submitted the job descriptions to the U.S. Department of Labor for publication in the Standard Occupational Classification and the on-line Occupational Outlook Handbook. Read more about this project.

ASQ-MQD, Certified Calibration Technician Program

NCSLI supports efforts by ASQ Measurement Quality Division (MQD) to maintain the Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) Program. The CCT requires ongoing education and training to obtain recertification units.  You can find training resources on the CCT in our Training Aids Library and you can find courses regularly scheduled on our Training Calendar. The Certified Calibration Technician tests, calibrates, maintains and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, analytical and electronic measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards.
