Meeting Overview:

World Metrology Day Celebration!
½ day, afternoon event focused on specific topic, Interactive dual presenter discussion on Measurement Literacy and organizational relationships with hands on team exercise focusing on the review and acceptability of Calibration and Test certifications, and reports per documented standards. Focus on information inclusion, red-flags, compliance and completeness. Attendees will be provided a thumb drive with significant support information library.

Topic:  Measurement Literacy

Abstract:  Ever felt like your measurement/calibration service provider or other Test & Metrology professionals are speaking a different language?  Whether you are experienced or new to the measurement & test community you sometimes may want to get a handle on the evolving related lingo & jargon?  Find yourself sitting in a session and the presenters are speaking in acronyms and you hope someone will eventually provide a translator?  All this can certainly leave you feeling confused and unsure about getting the most for your professional development. Wishing you knew where to access resources to gain this knowledge, where to search, who to contact?
This presentation will focus on a discussion of the many National & International relationships, measurement terms and concepts to assist you in the development of your accreditation and technical knowledge plus vocabulary understanding, enabling you to better participate in discussions within the greater test & measurement community.


Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this tutorial, the participant will be able to:

Understand the relationship and variety of Regional, National and Partnered measurement establishments and signatories;

 Recognize the differences between key industry groups such as NCSLI & national metrology institutes, (NMIs), accreditation bodies, and other various calibration suppliers;

Visualize traceability via the NCSLI Poster;

Analyze a calibration certificate to determine compliance with your organization’s measurement needs as well as standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI Z540.3;

dentify resources to build your library for future reference using the job aids provided;

And, familiarize yourself with key terms, their accepted and referenced definitions and some of the misconceptions. (Compliance, compliant calibration accredited lab vs. accredited calibrations, etc.)
