NCSLI Scholarship Program

The purpose of the NCSLI scholarship and awards program is to further Measurement Science (Metrology) education by awarding scholarships, awards, or grants to selected education institutions for the purpose of distributing awards to individual students based on the Institution's award criteria. The receiving institutions are selected on the basis of the programs offered and the contribution of such programs toward the study of Measurement Science. The two scholarship programs that are offered are the NCSLI General Scholarship Program Institutions and the Joe D. Simmons Memorial Scholarship Individuals.

See our 2007 Article on Metrology Scholarships for more information.

J. D. Simmons Memorial Scholarship (Presented to Individuals) Joe Simmons

The Joe Simmons Memorial Scholarship is co-sponsored by NCSL International (NCSLI), the Measurement Science Conference (MSC), and the American Society for Quality - Measurement Quality Division (ASQ-MQD). Funds collected by NCSLI are donated directly to the Joe Simmons Memorial Scholarship fund on behalf of NCSLI members.

Completed applications are due March 1st of each year. Applications are reviewed by the Selection Committee and selections are made based on academic performance. The Scholarship award is based solely on academic performance, especially in metrology-related courses, but in general technical and communications courses as well. Race, gender, and economic need are not selection factors, although the last may influence selection when applications are closely matched. To apply for the Scholarship or get further information, click here to go to the Scholarship's web site.

If you have suggestions for improving any aspect of the Scholarship or any other kind of comment, contact the Financial Resources Chair who will bring your concerns to the Simmons Scholarship Committee.
