An Introduction to the ILAC Policy (P Series) and Guidance (G Series) Documents (A Peek Behind the Accreditation Body Curtain)

Sept. 1-2, 2020 - This course introduces you to many of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Policy Documents (P Series) that Accreditation Bodies apply to Accredited Calibration and Testing Laboratories as part of the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). The participants will review a variety of policies including ILAC P8 Guidelines for the Use of Accreditation Symbols and for Claims of Accredited Status by Accredited Laboratories, P9 for Participation in Proficiency Testing Activities, P10 for Traceability of Measurement Results, and P14 for Uncertainty in Calibration. In addition, learners will briefly review some of the ILAC Guidance Documents (G Series) such as ILAC G8 Guidelines on the Reporting of Compliance with Specification, G17 Introducing the Concept of Uncertainty of Measurement in Testing in Association with the Application of the Standard ISO/IEC 17025 and G18 Guidelines for the Formulation of Scopes of Accreditation in Laboratories.
Robert Knake
Is currently a Program Manager with the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), where he joined
in October of 2007. His main responsibility is assisting clients through the process of obtaining and maintaining accreditation, as well as serving as deputy for the Reference
Material Producer Program and staff contact for laboratories in the calibration field. He is also responsible for maintaining the association documentation related to the PTP
program. He is also a staff trainer and conducts training internally of new staff and assessors as well as externally at public training events for A2LA and other organizations.
