Systems and Operations Management
The Quality Management Certificate program is designed for post-baccalaureate individuals seeking access to or advancement in quality-related professions. Coordinate Metrology, Certificate of Achievement
The program was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the teaching staff and donations of product and curriculum support from Verisurf Software and its industry partners, Faro Technologies and API. The program is significant in that it closes the loop for students in the concept of model-based manufacturing, including design, reverse engineering, manufacturing, quality inspection and reporting.
The Coordinate Metrology program is a crowning achievement for Cerritos College as it relationally and digitally connects practical elements of the department’s applied technology curriculum. In industry this is commonly referred to as “maintaining the digital thread.”

Quality Control Technician Certificate of Achievement
The Quality Control Technician Certificate of Achievement prepares students in the fundamentals of machining techniques, dimensional metrology, interpretation of multiview engineering prints, and applied geometric inspection dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5m). Students also learn the correct operation of coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and the principles of manufacturing quality control and associated standards. Students in the Quality Control Technician program are instructed on how to inspect parts using various inspection methods; interpret drawings used in manufacturing; and record, analyze and document findings using various quality assurance procedures. Program students also learn the safe set-up and operation of CMM and related measuring instruments. Upon completion of the certificate requirements, students are prepared for employment in manufacturing facilities as quality control inspectors and technicians.

29 Unit Metrology Certificate of Achievement
The Metrology Certificate Program covers various aspects of the manufacturing processes which has an emphasis on dimensional metrology, inspection reporting, mechanical part geometry and computer-assisted inspection. Metrology is crucial that actual employment functions of performing measurement activities are completed with no errors. Measurement and metrology procedures are utilized to ensure that parts and components are manufactured as engineers intended for parts and assemblies to work correctly and not fail. Upon completion of the program students will be able to:
- Employ basic and automated measurement tools to perform inspections.
- Perform simple calculations for unit conversions and to obtain final values from Blueprints for inspection reports.
- Complete a simple Inspection Report utilizing basic measurement tools and drawings.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ANSI Y14.5 standard and how it is applicable to inspection processes.

Medical Product Quality Graduate Certificate
The graduate certificate in Medical Product Quality is a 12-unit program designed for students with a background in biological, pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering. Quality assurance and quality control are the two functions in the biomedical industry that are responsible for the testing and oversight required to ensure the safety of the health care products that are manufactured. An essential tenet of regulatory oversight is the assurance of quality through guidelines, audits and inspections. In this program the regulations and guidelines to ensure the quality of drugs, biologics and medical devices, both in the United States and internationally, will be studied to develop an understanding of the basic principles important for the interpretation and implementation of quality practices and quality systems. Course work is typically delivered in nontraditional formats such as intensive weekend sessions and will use distance learning tools, Webcast lectures and study materials.
Students must complete 12 units of specified course work (four course minimum), that normally will include an introductory course in the basic principles of quality systems, a course in project management, a course in quality tools and one elective chosen from the quality or regulatory offerings. The certificate can be completed on a part-time basis but must be finished within five years.
